Swansea-based social, sustainable and affordable property developer, Castell Group, has successfully completed a housing project in partnership with registered social landlord, Caredig.

The project involved Castell Group demolishing an old garage in Trallwn, Swansea, and developing twelve affordable housing units across two blocks, with three units specifically adapted for disabled users, now known as Trallwn Farm Close.

The newly constructed apartments offer sleek and easy-to-maintain homes with affordable rents. Each block features a double-height glazed entrance, creating a welcoming atmosphere for tenants.

The design of the apartments prioritises energy efficiency, with solar panels installed to keep energy costs low for residents. Additionally, the development includes onsite parking, green areas and bike stores to enhance the quality of life for the residents.

The site for the Trallwn Farm Close project was discovered by Castell Group after sending a letter to the vendor. The entire project has been funded through private investment, demonstrating the commitment of Castell Group to delivering high-quality affordable housing in Swansea and surrounds.

This construction project not only provides much-needed affordable housing in the area but also contributes to the overall goal of creating sustainable and inclusive communities. The inclusion of units adapted for disabled users highlights the importance of accessibility and the need to cater to diverse housing needs.

By working in collaboration with Caredig, Castell Group has successfully transformed underutilised land into a valuable asset for the community.

Overall, the completion of the Trallwn Farm Close project by Castell Group is a significant achievement in meeting the demand for affordable housing and improving the living conditions for residents in Swansea.

Marcia Sinfield, CEO at Caredig, commented:

“Caredig are delighted to have worked in partnership with Castell to provide these much-needed, energy-efficient homes. Our thanks to the Welsh Government and Swansea Council for supporting the scheme. At Caredig, we want to create great places for people to live and work. The Trallwn Farm site is a fabulous example of achieving this through like-minded organisations working together and we are delighted with the final results, as were the tenants moving into these homes.”

Dorian Payne, Managing Director, Castell Group, added:

“This development represents everything we're about at the Castell Group, which is building affordable and energy-efficient homes for those who need them most. It's been a pleasure working with Marcia and the Caredig team and we hope to do more projects with them in the future.”
